Session One: Elements of Art

During this first session, students are exposed to the basics of art education. Art history and children’s literature will play a major role in introducing the simple, yet necessary, elements of line, shape, color and texture. In Wee Little Arts, students are exposed to a variety of safe, high quality materials, which foster their imaginations to utilize their critical thinking skills. Each session will introduce new material.

Session Two: Drawing

Drawing will be a focal point as students use their environment to create works of art. Students will apply the elements of design to their work. Students will be introduced to a variety of media which will inspire experimentation in their work. Examining both Master and contemporary artists, students will continually be exposed to other artists’ work.

Session Three: Painting

Introduction to painting: Students will be exposed to techniques and a variety of materials, while creating work based on their imagination and environment. Mixed-media will also be explored, ensuring some exceptional work!

Session Four: Three Dimensions

Clay manipulation and sculpture: Students will use a “clay” like substance to transition from working in two dimensions to creating projects in 3 dimensions. Other materials may be used to encourage the end result of height, width, and depth.
